The decision to choose a color for our wedding was not as difficult as we did with our wedding theme. It was as easy as one, two, and three!
I love PINK and Marc loves BLUE. Of course, we have to decide on the hue - if we want a darker blue and pink or we will go for the lighter shade. It was Marc's idea that we will have LIGHT BLUE and LIGHT PINK as our color motif. He explained to me that he does not want the shade of blue and pink to overpower the color white, and yes I agree with him. As what I have seen in most weddings, they don't really emphasize the shade of WHITE which is basically the color of wedding, but instead they focus more on the color motif.
Anyway, I tried to imagine how it looks like, so I have to search and find the perfect shade of pink and blue that would really compliment to our taste and in the eyes of the people who will be looking at it. After days of searching/looking and comparing - finally, I found the perfect shade for our color motif. I showed it to Marc which I always do and he agrees with it.
People keep on asking me, "What is your motif?" and that's when I decided to make a mood board, so that our guests could easily imagine how it will look like. I also think that it would be good to use it and show our suppliers what we really want. I put a short description in each color to understand why we choose these colors (pink and blue) as our motif.
BLUE
The Groom's favorite color
This color represents one of trust, honesty, and loyalty. It is sincere, reserved and quiet, and does not like to make a fuss or draw attention. It hates confrontation, and likes to do things in its own way.
Blue is reliable and responsible. This color exhibits an inner security and confidence. You can rely on it to take control and do the right thing in difficult times. It has a need for order and direction in its life, including its living and work spaces. It seeks peace and tranquility above everything else which promotes both physical and mental relaxation.
It reduces stress, creating a sense of calmness, and relaxation. The paler the blue the more freedom we feel. Blue also relates to one-to-one communication, especially when speaking the truth through verbal self-expression as it is idealistic, enhances our ability to communicate our needs and wants.
PINK
The Bride's favorite color
This color represents compassion, nurturing, and love. It relates to unconditional love and understanding, and the giving and receiving of care.
Pink is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. It tones down the physical passion of red replacing it with a gentle loving energy. It is calm and reassures our emotional energies, alleviating feeling of anger, aggression, resentment, and abandonment.
It is a non-threatening color seeking appreciation, respect, and admiration. It does not like to be take for granted and just loves to hear the words, "THANK YOU" which also signifies good health and success.
WHITE
The Bride and Groom uses this color as a contrast with their two favorite colors, so that the guests will not get the impression that the couple are obsessed with blue and pink. Plus, it plays a big and important role on our wedding.
This color represents purity, innocence, wholeness, and completion. It is the color of new beginnings and it opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive.
White contains an equal balance that would represent both the positive and negative aspects of all colors. It is totally reflective, awakening openness, growth and creativity. It is also a color of protection and encouragement, offering a sense of peace and calm, comfort and hope, and to help alleviate emotional upsets.
It creates a sense of order and efficiency which offers an inner cleansing and purifying your thoughts, emotions and your spirit, refreshing and strengthening your entire energy system. This is also indicates the completion of a cycle in your life especially when you are moving in a new direction which reminds us of a time in our lives were things are much easier and less complicated.
I think we made a perfect choice for our wedding colors. All 3 go hand in hand. It's a very subtle and warm, welcoming mix. As said in this blog, the more saturated the pink and blue, the more "busy" it would feel. The choice in subtlety in the colors we chose plays a key role for the look and feel we want for our special day. :)
